Prerequisites

• Minecraft 1.21 ~ 1.21.11

• Java 21 or higher

• NeoForge or Fabric installed (Fabric also requires Fabric API)

Install on NeoForge

Download NeoForge

Download and install NeoForge for your Minecraft version.

Get the AnkiNBT JAR

Download the AnkiNBT NeoForge JAR from either source:

• Modrinth

• CurseForge

Make sure the file matches your Minecraft version.

Example: AnkiNBT-neoforge-1.21.1-x.x.x.jar.

Drop it into the mods folder

Put the JAR into .minecraft/mods/.

Launch Minecraft

Start Minecraft with the NeoForge profile.

Install on Fabric

Download Fabric Loader

Download and install Fabric Loader for your Minecraft version.

Install Fabric API

Download and install Fabric API.

Fabric API is required on Fabric.

Get the AnkiNBT JAR

Download the AnkiNBT Fabric JAR from either source:

• Modrinth

• CurseForge

Make sure the file matches your Minecraft version.

Example: AnkiNBT-fabric-1.21.1-x.x.x.jar.

Drop it into the mods folder

Put both the Fabric API JAR and the AnkiNBT JAR into .minecraft/mods/.

Launch Minecraft

Start Minecraft with the Fabric profile.

Verify the installation

Check the mod list

After launching the game, open the Mods menu (NeoForge or Fabric).

Confirm AnkiNBT is listed.

Test the editor

In-game, hold any item and press N.

The editor should pop up.

No response? Troubleshooting

Check these items:

• The mod version matches your Minecraft version.

• On Fabric, Fabric API is installed.

• You are using Java 21.

Update the mod

To update AnkiNBT, replace the old JAR in .minecraft/mods/ with the new one.

Your config (ankinbt.json) is kept automatically.
